Veggie Pasta Salad

This is such an easy, satisfying pasta salad, you could eat it as a meal. I made it for my family’s 4th of July BBQ last year and I think I might have to whip it up again this year! Plus, who doesn’t love Paula Deen, but it’s hard to find a recipe from her [...]

$5 Fridays: Chenin Blanc & Pinot Grigio

So… It’s not Friday. And it’s not Saturday, either. No. No, it’s Monday.
What happened?
We got rid of one set of parents only to trade ‘em in for another… Which? I love them all – really I do – but one week of my parents followed immediately by a weekend with his, with me STILL working [...]

Baked Brie in Puff Pastry with Cranberry Chutney

I made this on Friday to take to my in-law’s for the annual Father’s Day/father-in-law’s birthday celebration. I have enjoyed baked brie that other people have made, but never tried it myself. I will be trying it again soon. The flavor in the chutney is just wonderful, with a little zing from the tequila, giving [...]

$5 Fridays: Rain Delay

Due to circumstances  (*ahem* my parents in town *ahem* the consumption of large quantities of non-$5 vino… WITH the parents, not BECAUSE OF them! *ahem*) this week’s review will be delayed until tomorrow (but somehow, $5 Saturday doesn’t have quite the same ring)
As you may have guessed, I’ll be reviewing the remainder of my whites [...]

Garlic and Herb Croutons

I was reminded of these today by a Twitter friend, who was munching on croutons for a snack. They are way better than any store bought crouton, and are so easy to make, you will never go back to the bagged version again. Throw them in a Ziploc when you are done, and [...]

Tex-Mex Chicken

This is a great catch-all dish. You can eat it on it’s own or use it as taco or burrito filling. It also freezes very well. Quick word of warning — it makes  A TON. When I make it for my family, I usually just use 4 chicken breasts and that is plenty (But keep [...]

Stuffed Burgers

This is a family favorite. I usually grill these burgers on the Weber grill. If you use propane, grill on lower heat. Warning: All ingredients in this dish are estimates! If you like bacon you will love these!
Serves 5-7
3 pounds of hamburger
6-8 slices of bacon, cooked and chopped
mayo (not miracle whip)
Shredded cheddar cheese
Favorite grill seasoning- [...]

Ipsum

A perfect summer wine!  Mmmmmm!  They used to serve it at my most favorite wine bar, Postino, but they took it off the menu, I was fortunate to find it at my local BevMo today for just $9.99 a bottle!  HOORAY!

Dill Potato Salad

This potato salad is on the lighter side because you use some yogurt in it. It is also quick because you use skin on red potatoes.
4 pounds small red potatoes ( 8 cups), cooked and cubed
2 Tbs oil
2 Tbs apple cider vineger
1 cup light mayo
1 cup plain low-fat yogurt
1 Tbs dijon mustard
1 cup red onion [...]

Chicken Pasta with Mushroom and White Wine Cream Sauce

This recipe can be made as a pasta or sometimes I just use the sauce on top of some grilled chicken with a side salad and roasted tomatoes on the vine.

2-3 chicken breasts
4 oz. heavy whipping cream
1 can chicken broth
4 to 6 oz. of sliced mushrooms (fresh)
Thyme
White wine
