melt in your mouth meatballs

Published by Meghan under Beef, Food

Our next form submission from from Melissa.  And even though it’s 7:30 in the morning and I’m drinking coffee, I’m *thinking* about making meatballs. Looks like I’ll be running to the grocery store today!

Melissa says that these will go great with the Marinara Sauce that was posted the other day.

Ingredients:
1/4 Cup
1.5Lbs Ground Beef
1 egg
1c bread crumbs (fresh or store)
1c grated parm cheese (fresh/store)
dried basil (cup your hand and fill the well)
dried oregeno (about 1/2 of that amount)
salt & pepper (just a few shakes)

3/4c – 1c steaming hot water

Pot full of your best Marinara Sauce

Place meat, breadcrumbs, cheese, egg & spices in a bowl
Start mixing the meat by hand
then add about 1/4c water at a time until everything is incorporated.
You don’t want the meat to feel wet but they should be soft and easy to work with.

Preheat oven 350 degrees

Roll in balls about the size of a golfball & place on a baking sheet
Place in oven & bake (turning every 7-10 mins) for about 20 min

*You want them to be just browned on the outside because you are going to place them in your pot of sauce to continue cooking for about an hour, however, you don’t want to undercook them or they could fall apart, which in this case would work if you’re looking to make a meat sauce.

Enjoy with crusty bread as a snack , place on a roll in the oven with some cheese or on top of your favorite pasta

Bon Appetit!
